Coffin-like, remnants of the Wellington Hills golf clubhouse, seems ready for burial. Nearby, a row of trees stand silent, as if in tribute to their old friend.
Trees do not have voices, just grandeur and 100 years of life.
The County’s soulless Machines will give no thought to the trees or their Life when given the green light to level the existing park.
Park Officials and Machine operators only see variants on the concept of “Progress”. The Manifest Destiny kind of progress which suffers us the sins and errors of urban over-development, crowded living conditions, crowded roads and all the other anti-Green Space problems of the modern world.
It’s a difficult thing – to reset and rebuild a jewel-like Green Space once it's demolished.
Please, call the Snohomish County Council at 1-425-388-3494 and tell them to rethink the destruction of a beautiful Green Place.
I must say, there's a pall upon Wellington Hills Park ... as I walk through the park, looking at trees and sky, taking photos I also realize ... we are days away from when the Dept. of Parks and Wrecks submits their biased plan to the county council.
Their "plan"? Paved parking lots for over 700 cars, seven sports fields - four of which are covered with artificial turf, stadium lights, street lights, a traffic circle and a commercially operated enterprise within a 60,000 square feet building.
Of course, trees will be cut down and a significant amount of land will be dug out and flattened.
They've already made their presence known. Despite the fact the Snohomish County Council have not voted yea or nay on the construction of the mega sports complex; the Dept. of Parks and Wreck has already used a Big Backhoe to knock-down buildings (including a quaint club house) on the property.
If the Snohomish County's Dept. of Parks and Wrecks get approval for their proposed sports complex ...
This area will be bulldozed flat.Their intentions are to build a 60,000 square feet (60 ft. x 100 ft.) commercial mountain bike building at this location of Wellington Hills Park.
Plus, their "master plan" includes a paved parking lot for 250+ cars - plus flat areas for additional parking when sports tournaments are scheduled.
They think their plan makes sense. I don't think so.
Looking westward, the row of trees is at the top edge of the pleateu. The Primus building is below.
The disturbed patch of ground and the parallel track marks are from a recent soil sampling done by the County.
The small, smooth patch of ground was a golf course putting green.
View towards the woods.

After the rain stopped I wandered over to the north side of 240th to see what the boys with the backhoe had done.
I'm sure they had permits, supervisors and everyone was just following orders ...
Snohomish County's Parks and Wrecks hard at work ...
and the initial destruction of the Wellington Hills "Park" grounds.
I suppose if I'm sitting in the cab of an 18-wheeler I could see the County's new NO PARK ACCESS sign.
Why is the sign so high ... I don't know.
What's that old expression for something done poorly. Oh, yes ... a "g-job".
Next, a pretty fence and a pretty gate ... aren't they wonderful?
Of course, when the bulldozers and dump trucks show-up the pretty fence will come down.
For the moment, however, the beautiful view and beautiful trees are behind the County's pretty fence. They're so feng shui thoughtful.
Being at the right place at the right time ... a cliché I know ... but it's still it’s a phrase laced with truth.
The rains have returned and as I was looking at a different scene of rain wetness for a photograph, I looked down towards my feet and discovered this little guy.
I think this salamander is rather spectacular.
This area will be filled in with dirt and flattened ... after that, there will be a 250 car parking lot.
Same for this area - trees will be cut down, fill dirt will be brought in and the area will be flattened.
In this area the trees and gently rolling grassy slopes will be replaced with a paved 500 car parking lot and up in the area where the grass meets the trees, there will seven soccer fields and a 50,000 sg. ft. building - a "sports activity building" ie, for indoor soccer.
This existing structure, the modest sized Welllington Hills Golf club house, will be razed and the area will dug out (in various locations as deep as 20 ft.). This is the general location of seven soccer fields and the 50,000 sg. ft. sports activity building.
In the the foreground, the grassy area will become a paved 500 car parking lot.
Who "wins"?
In this case trees will be cut down, a residential community will be devastated .............................. and scheming greed wins.
